Ontario’s Enhanced Dental Support Framework For Seniors Over 65 Years Old!
The Ontario government is committed to supporting the oral health of seniors by providing convenient dental services. Eligible seniors can receive basic dental treatments such as cleanings, fillings and extractions from relevant institutions. This policy ensures that seniors can maintain their dental health, avoid expensive treatments in the future, and improve their quality of life. Here are some details.

Overview of Ontario’s Policy on Dental Care for Seniors
These policies are part of the province’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all seniors have access to essential dental services, promoting health and quality of life in later years. By offering comprehensive coverage for a range of dental services, the government aims to ensure that seniors don’t face financial hardship when seeking dental care.
Coverage includes:
• check-ups, including scaling, fluoride and polishing
• repairing broken teeth and cavities
• x-rays
• removing teeth or abnormal tissue (oral surgery)
• anesthesia
• treating infection and pain (endodontic services)
• treating gum conditions and diseases (periodontal services)
This initiative is administered through local health units and dental service providers that collaborate with the Ontario Ministry of Health to make sure the services are accessible and tailored to seniors’ needs. Once you are enrolled in the program, your coverage period is for up to one year.

Benefits of Ontario’s Senior Dental Care Initiative
Ontario’s dental policy provides a multitude of benefits to its senior citizens:
Improved Oral Health: Regular access to dental care helps seniors prevent serious dental issues such as gum disease, tooth loss, and infections. By addressing problems early, seniors can avoid more expensive and complex treatments later.
Better Quality of Life: Dental health directly impacts overall well-being, from eating and speaking to confidence in social settings. By reducing barriers to dental care, seniors can maintain a healthy lifestyle and enjoy a better quality of life.
Prevention of Other Health Issues: Poor oral health is linked to other health problems, such as heart disease and diabetes. Maintaining proper dental care can reduce the risk of these complications, promoting overall health in senior years.
